Kutch: At least seven workers were killed and 20 others sustained injuries in a major road accident inside the renewable energy park at Khavda in Gujarat’s Kutch district after a vehicle carrying workers collided head-on with a truck-bulker. The accident took place on an internal road inside the Khavda RE Park, where a Bolero transporting workers crashed directly into the other heavy vehicle. The force of the collision severely damaged the Bolero, leaving several passengers trapped inside the wreckage.
According to preliminary information, seven workers succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while approximately 20 others were hurt. The immediate medical condition of some of the injured individuals remained unverified following the crash.
West Kutch Police rushed to the location upon receiving word of the collision and immediately initiated a rescue operation. A crane was deployed to extract the workers who were trapped inside the mangled framework of the Bolero. The injured victims were subsequently rushed to a nearby medical facility for urgent care, while authorities confirmed that the rescue effort successfully cleared survivors from the damaged automobile in a timely manner.
The remains of the workers who lost their lives in the tragedy are being transferred from Khavda to Bhuj for post-mortem examinations. Visual documentation from the crash site highlighted the extensive damage inflicted on the vehicles, underscoring the severity of the impact.
