Sennheiser has a long-standing reputation for manufacturing high-end audio hardware targeted at dedicated music enthusiasts, and the brand has updated its true wireless lineup with the introduction of the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 5. Priced competitively against top-tier rivals in the flagship earbud market, these earphones aim to prove their worth through a mix of acoustic performance and modern features.

The physical design of both the earbuds and the charging case has seen noticeable refinements. The individual earbuds are now smaller, featuring a more rounded contour that enhances wearability and comfort over extended listening sessions. Four different sizes of ear tips are included in the package to help users achieve a secure fit. Meanwhile, the charging case is slimmer and more pocket-friendly, featuring a sturdy construction with strong magnetic closure, though the lid may exhibit a slight creak. Color options include a matte Graphite finish alongside Lavender and Copper variants.

Setting up the earbuds is a streamlined process, though multi-device connectivity must be manually enabled through the Sennheiser Smart Control Plus companion app. Equipped with 7-millimeter dynamic drivers, the Momentum True Wireless 5 support high-resolution audio playback and deliver a balanced soundstage. Vocals and instruments maintain distinct separation, and bass reproduction remains controlled without bleeding into the mid-range. Audiophiles using Android devices will benefit from Snapdragon aptX support, while Apple device users rely on standard AAC and SBC codecs. Additionally, Dolby Atmos with dynamic head tracking is included to create a spatial listening experience.

Active noise cancellation receives a substantial upgrade through an eight-microphone array, utilizing four mics on each earbud. The system effectively silences low-frequency drone sounds from office environments and public transportation, and also dampens nearby speech. A transparency mode is available to keep users aware of ambient sounds, though it can occasionally amplify external noise more than necessary. An anti-wind mode is also integrated for outdoor use.

Battery performance provides roughly six hours of continuous playback with active noise cancellation enabled, while the charging case extends total listening time up to 40 hours with noise cancellation turned off. A notable innovation is the inclusion of a battery replacement tool and replaceable cells, allowing users to swap degraded batteries rather than discarding the entire unit. Wired charging requires over an hour for a full replenishment, and Qi 2.1 wireless charging support is also provided.
