Delhi: High drama unfolded as police personnel were deployed both inside and outside the residence where Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke has been staying, ahead of a planned protest rally at Connaught Place. Police teams visited the location to serve a formal legal notice apprising organizers of prohibitory orders enforced under Section 163 in the Connaught Place and Central Park areas, which forbid unlawful assemblies and public gatherings.
Authorities cautioned against violating the restrictions and warned that strict legal action would follow any breach of public order. Officials cited the absence of police permission, objections raised by local market associations, and the administrative closure of Central Park by the New Delhi Municipal Council as grounds for disallowing the demonstration. They also pointed to potential law and order disruptions and business interference in the commercial area during the festive season.
Visuals from the premises showed Dipke reading, writing on, and signing the legal document while holding the national flag, accompanied by police officers. Organizers maintained that there was no plan to stage an unauthorized protest, asserting that the group intended only to conduct a peaceful rally to unfurl the national flag. Representatives questioned the restrictions by noting that similar events occurred peacefully elsewhere and argued that commercial activities would not be harmed.
In response to the planned call for citizens and supporters to gather at Central Park with the Tricolour, heavy security and paramilitary arrangements were put in place across central Delhi. Barricades and riot control vehicles were deployed, with thousands of personnel placed on alert to ensure peace and prevent unauthorized assemblies.
