Donald Trump has accused fellow Republicans of actively hindering the campaign of Ken Paxton, the Republican nominee in the closely contested Texas Senate election.

In a statement published on Truth Social, Trump criticized incumbent Senator John Cornyn and veteran political strategist Karl Rove, claiming they were foolishly working against Paxton out of personal jealousy. He asserted that their actions were damaging both Texas and the United States.

Trump warned that any potential defeat for Paxton would rest squarely on weak and ineffective political operatives who have opposed his own political career. Although Texas is traditionally considered a safe Republican stronghold, recent polling indicates that Democratic nominee James Talarico holds a narrow lead over Paxton, who has held the office of Texas attorney general since 2015.

A Republican defeat in the Texas Senate race would represent a significant setback for both Trump and the broader GOP, marking the first time the party has lost a Senate election in the state since 1988.

In separate political developments, newly appointed White House press secretary Katie Zacharia stated it remains uncertain how frequently she will engage with reporters or hold official press briefings. This comes amid ongoing questions regarding her legal background following disclosures that she did not pass the California bar exam after completing law school.

Additionally, Donald Trump recently condemned a series of Ukrainian military strikes targeting Russian oil refineries, labeling the attacks a disgrace while remarking that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is more difficult to deal with than Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
