A viral video purportedly showing three women and a man consuming liquor inside the surgical building of the Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital has prompted a formal police inquiry, raising serious concerns regarding security and discipline at the state-run healthcare facility.

The footage, which began circulating on Tuesday, reportedly depicts four individuals near a staircase inside the hospital premises. Preliminary accounts suggest the women may be sanitation workers and the man a trolley worker, though their exact identities, official employment status, and the overall authenticity of the video remain unverified by authorities.

Taking prompt cognisance of the situation, Darbhanga Senior Superintendent of Police Jagunath Raddi Jalaraddi instructed the local Benta police station in-charge to initiate a thorough investigation into the matter.

The circulating video clip allegedly shows the women arranging snacks and disposable plastic glasses from a bag while a man pulls a tetra pack of alcohol from his waistband to pass it along.

DMCH Superintendent Dr. Jagdish Chandra stated that the footage would be closely examined to confirm its validity, identify the individuals involved, and verify the specific location within the building. He noted that he alerted local law enforcement immediately upon learning of the alleged incident.

Additionally, the Darbhanga district magistrate instructed the hospital administration to gather all relevant details and pursue appropriate disciplinary measures. Meanwhile, the facility's security in-charge suggested that the recording might be approximately six months old.

The ongoing investigation aims to determine the exact timeline and location of the recording, as well as whether the individuals captured on camera were active hospital employees or outsourced staff on duty at the time.
