Actor Swara Bhasker has returned to the reality television space by joining the cast of Rise and Fall Season 2, a career move that initially surprised her family and friends. Before entering the show, the actor explained that loved ones had advised her against taking up the project. However, she viewed the opportunity as a short-term commitment that would keep her away from her three-year-old daughter for only a brief period, serving as a practical way to balance professional commitments with parenting.
Reflecting on her previous reality television stint in Pati Patni Aur Panga alongside her husband, Fahad Ahmad, Bhasker noted that the experience offered audiences a glimpse into a non-political side of her personality that usually remains overshadowed. She realized that participating in one reality show per year could provide the necessary flexibility to spend more time at home. While she has slowed down her overall return to work, she finds scripted fiction too mentally intensive to manage while raising a toddler, making unscripted television a more manageable platform.
During her pre-show discussions, Bhasker addressed the intense public scrutiny and body-shaming she has experienced since becoming a mother. She dismissed postpartum critique as an unintelligent form of discourse, describing individuals who participate in such harassment as foolish and idiotic. She emphasized that conventional thinness and beauty carry no inherent moral virtue, arguing that society's glamour-driven constructs should not dictate a woman's worth.
Comparing motherhood to a transformative tsunami where women undergo profound physical and emotional changes, Bhasker pointed out the unfair scrutiny faced by public figures like Katrina Kaif and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan after childbirth. She stressed that such behavior demonstrates a lack of basic humanity and calls for strong public pushback. Directing her final thoughts toward male critics who judge female appearances, the actor offered a blunt piece of advice, stating that men simply need to remain quiet and leave mothers alone.
Rise and Fall Season 2 is produced by Banijay Asia, hosted by Virender Sehwag, and streams daily on Amazon MX Player.
