During a recent media appearance on the India First program, Bharatiya Janata Party National General Secretary and former Union Minister Smriti Irani forcefully pushed back against criticisms directed at the Election Commission of India while brushing aside demonstrations spearheaded by Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi. Irani claimed that the ongoing opposition protests are ultimately driven by an agenda for regime change instead of a genuine pursuit of electoral transparency, emphasizing that political battles should be fought through democratic elections.

Addressing discussions surrounding thirteen crore voters tied to the Special Summary Revision process, Irani detailed that ninety percent of the total ninety crore voters have successfully undergone verification. She pointed out that approximately twenty lakh booth-level agents representing various political organizations have been actively involved in this monitoring initiative.

Providing a breakdown of the flagged voter entries, Irani noted that the records included three crore deceased persons, six crore individuals who relocated, one crore duplicate registrations, and another three crore untraceable voters.

Challenging the arguments put forward by the Congress leadership, Irani underscored the fact that opposition parties have successfully secured victories in multiple states including Kerala, Telangana, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka, all while operating under the identical electoral mechanism they now criticize.
