The Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education has revised its question paper pattern for Classes 9 to 12, introducing adjustments to internal choices across main academic subjects and National Skills Qualifications Framework courses beginning with the 2026-27 academic session.
According to an official board notice issued on October 15, 2026, students will no longer be provided with internal choices for two-mark very short-answer questions in main subjects. Despite this removal, the existing provision of internal options will remain in place for three-mark short-answer questions and four-mark long-answer questions.
For subjects covered under the National Skills Qualifications Framework, the board has conversely introduced internal choices for five-mark long-answer and seven-mark essay-type questions. This adjustment is designed to provide vocational students with alternative options when attempting questions that carry higher marks.
These modifications stem from a resolution passed during the Curriculum Committee meeting of the Board of Secondary Education on August 20, 2025. The policy changes received subsequent approval at an Executive Committee meeting held on August 28, 2025.
The official notification details distinct guidelines for main academic fields versus NSQF subjects, mapping out precisely where internal alternatives are being phased out, sustained, or newly implemented. Students preparing for upcoming MP Board examinations in Classes 9 through 12 are advised to take note of the updated question paper structure as they study for the 2026-27 assessments.
