An opposition delegation comprising senior figures such as Rahul Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee, and Mallikarjun Kharge visited President Droupadi Murmu to submit a formal memorandum accusing authorities of electoral manipulation. The petition also demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged partiality within the poll body.
Following the discussion, the opposition leaders reported that the President gave them a patient hearing and requested tangible proof to back up their claims. The bloc leaders committed to providing the requested documentation before pursuing further legal steps, including taking their memorandum to the Supreme Court.
At the same time, the national capital was placed under heavy security lockdown in anticipation of a demonstration organized by the Cockroach Janta Party at Jantar Mantar. Authorities deployed more than 20,000 security personnel across key areas, suspended mobile internet access in the vicinity of the protest zone, shut down multiple metro stations, and halted inbound express train services.
During ongoing coverage, panels of political spokespersons and security analysts reviewed the heavy preemptive measures implemented by the administration alongside the opposition's persistent campaign challenging the neutrality of the Election Commission of India.
