Delhi Police Denies Jantar Mantar Protest Permission, Imposes Section 163 BNSS

Delhi Police has denied permission for a planned protest by the Cockroach Janata Party scheduled for 10th October at Jantar Mantar. Addressing the media, a senior police official stated that an intimation was submitted by Saurabh Das, co-convener of the party, seeking to hold an agitation regarding the accountability of the Chief Election Commissioner. The application was rejected because it failed to comply with the mandatory guideline requiring a minimum ten-day prior intimation. The police official also noted past non-compliance with undertakings and cited prevailing law and order, public safety, and traffic regulations. Furthermore, Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita is currently enforced in the New Delhi area, placing restrictions on gatherings and warning of legal action against violators. Security forces, including Rapid Action Force and Central Armed Police Forces personnel, are being deployed, while requests have been submitted to regulate metro station access to prevent unauthorised gatherings.
