Speaking at the India Today Conclave, Nationalist Congress Party (SCP) leader Supriya Sule drew comparisons between current conditions and an emergency, pointing to recent internet suspensions and the detention of demonstrators in Delhi.
In a conversation with Rajdeep Sardesai, Sule stated that the present situation gives the impression of an unannounced and undeclared state of emergency across the nation. However, she drew a distinction with the historical 1975 Emergency by noting that prominent political leaders have not faced arrest thus far, even as ordinary protesters continue to be detained.
