Members of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union officially called off their 17-day hunger strike following constructive negotiations between student representatives and a university committee headed by the dean of students.

A central demand of the protest was the reversal of disciplinary penalties imposed on student leaders, including the union president. Following the discussions, the university vice-chancellor directed the immediate revocation of rustication orders affecting five specific students.

The students cleared by this directive include Aditi Mishra, K Gopika Babu, Sunil Yadav, Danish Ali, and Nitish Kumar.

In addition to lifting the rustications, several key agreements were reached to address student grievances. Authorities agreed to withdraw all First Information Reports filed against the students involved in the demonstrations.

Furthermore, the university committed to establishing a review committee that will include a JNUSU office-bearer representative and an elected member to examine and purge contentious clauses from university regulations.

Additional committees will be formed to address specific student concerns regarding the Jawaharlal Nehru University Entrance Examination and hostel reservation policies, with designated representation from the student union.

Finally, the administration agreed to withdraw proctorial inquiries that had been initiated during previous demonstrations regarding anti-rustication measures, University Grants Commission regulations, and hostel infrastructure issues.
