The ruling party has retained control of the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation in Gujarat, capturing 38 out of the total 44 seats in the recent civic body elections. Meanwhile, the main opposition party managed to secure five seats, and an independent candidate picked up a single seat. The Aam Aadmi Party, which had previously captured a seat in the prior election, was unable to secure any representation this time around.

These electoral outcomes reinforce the ruling party's strong foothold in the state capital's local government, even though its overall seat count experienced a slight decrease compared to the 41 seats it claimed during the October 2021 election. The primary opposition group, which previously held only two seats, managed to expand its footprint to five seats this cycle.

Tabulation of ballots for the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation race commenced at 9 am following a peaceful weekend polling process conducted via Electronic Voting Machines. The contest spanned all 44 seats distributed across 11 wards, featuring 130 candidates vying for positions before an electorate of approximately 2.59 lakh registered voters. The governing party has held administrative power over the Gandhinagar municipal administration for the past five years.

Alongside the Gandhinagar contest, vote counting progressed for the Thara and Okha municipality elections, together with various municipal, district, and taluka panchayat bypolls across Gujarat. In the Okha municipality located within the Devbhumi Dwarka district, tabulation took place for 32 seats across nine wards, after four seats were secured uncontested and 75 candidates vied for the remaining positions.

In the Banaskantha district's Thara municipality, ballots were tallied across 24 seats spanning six wards with 59 candidates participating. Additional vote counting addressed single-seat vacancies in the Kheralu, Chhota Udepur, and Bayad municipalities, alongside local positions within several district and taluka panchayats.

Official data published by the State Election Commission indicated that final voter participation reached 59.25 percent in Gandhinagar, alongside higher turnouts of 81.18 percent in Thara and 63.27 percent in Okha. Joint Commissioner of the State Election Commission N K Damor confirmed that the entire voting procedure concluded without security incidents.
