A man from Uttar Pradesh climbed a mobile tower in Haridwar and refused to come down until his wife was brought to the spot, after learning that she had eloped with her lover. The dramatic incident unfolded in Shivalik Nagar on a Tuesday, requiring the intervention of police and administrative officials who tried to persuade him to descend safely.
The man, deeply distressed over his wife leaving him, had traveled to Haridwar after discovering that she had allegedly eloped with another individual from Uttar Pradesh and traveled to the city. He scaled a tower in the Shivalik Nagar neighborhood, immediately drawing the attention of alarmed local residents.
Upon receiving information about the situation, police arrived at the scene and launched efforts to bring him down. However, their initial attempts failed as the man stubbornly refused to budge from his elevated position.
He insisted that his wife be brought directly to the location, making it clear that he would stay put until his demand was met. This left law enforcement officers with the delicate task of keeping him calm while continuously attempting to talk him into ending the stand-off.
Police personnel and local officials remained engaged in persuasive efforts as hours ticked by. Despite repeated attempts by authorities to reason with him, the man continued sitting atop the metal structure.
The tense episode ultimately concluded as evening turned to night. After spending hours stranded on the tower, the man finally climbed down on his own accord as darkness fell, bringing a peaceful end to the dramatic incident.
