Delhi Police detained Cockroach Janta Party volunteers and leaders, including Ashutosh Ranka and Saurabh Das, after they staged an impromptu demonstration at Jantar Mantar. The protest followed central authorities' decisions to de-notify Jantar Mantar as a designated protest venue, relocating permitted agitation sites to Ramlila Maidan, CBD ground, and Burari grounds.
Visuals from the scene showed protesters climbing an iron gate near Jantar Mantar while carrying the national flag and shouting slogans demanding the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar before security personnel intervened and apprehended them. Heavy barricading and security forces, including paramilitary units, remain deployed throughout Central Delhi.
Delhi Police had earlier released the leaders on a fifty thousand rupee bond requiring them to maintain peace. Authorities indicated that potential legal action, including the registration of first information reports, is being examined by the police legal team for alleged breaches of undertaking conditions and assembly restrictions under section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.
