Israeli political leader and former IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot has delivered a public address pledging that Hamas will be stripped of its governing authority in the Gaza Strip within eighteen months of his entry into the Prime Minister's Office.

Eisenkot outlined that dismantling the military wing of Hamas will become an official government objective under his leadership. He indicated that this goal would be achieved either by accepting a framework akin to that proposed by former US President Donald Trump or through continued military and operational manoeuvres.

Stressing his extensive operational experience, Eisenkot asserted that allowing Hamas to remain in power constitutes a clear strategic loss for Israel, describing it as an unacceptable reality.

The remarks come amid broader regional discussions regarding the future governance and security landscape of the Gaza Strip, highlighting ongoing political debates within Israel over military strategy and long-term objectives.
