A face-off erupted between security personnel and demonstrators in Central Delhi near the Old Parliament area outside the Press Trust of India building. Stones were allegedly hurled at Delhi Police personnel during the unrest, leaving at least two officers injured following a gathering of roughly 50 to 60 protesters. In response, security forces including the Central Reserve Police Force and Delhi Police launched sweeping detentions across various gathering points.

Protesters, featuring members of the Students' Federation of India, gathered near Bangla Sahib Gurudwara and periodically emerged to shout slogans before retreating back into the premises, where security forces opted not to enter. Authorities continued making detentions while maintaining a high-security posture to contain the law and order situation.

A massive security clampdown unfolded across central Delhi as law enforcement deployed heavy barricading, checkpoints, and paramilitary units to thwart planned demonstration attempts. Demonstrating students and independent participants seeking to voice opposition against the SIR exercise and demand the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar succeeded in breaching cordons around Pandit Pant Marg, Jantar Mandar, and Connaught Place.

Footage from the area captured numerous students being physically detained and hauled away in buses after pushing through multiple layers of security barricades. Rigorous security screenings at border entry points from Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurgaon, coupled with metro station closures and traffic restrictions, brought normal movement across New Delhi to a standstill.

Meanwhile, commercial establishments including shops, eateries, and cafes in Connaught Place kept their shutters down while police and paramilitary squads heavily guarded the district. Additionally, leaders of the CJP, recognized as Abhijeet Dipke, Saurabh Das, and Ashutosh Ranka, were taken into custody directly from inside an aircraft upon landing and transferred to an undisclosed location.
