Bengaluru, Oct 19, 2026 14:22 IST - A woman was caught on CCTV casually stealing a wallet from a customer's bag at a Starbucks outlet on Bengaluru's Commercial Street. The footage was shared by Disha Bhatia, whose partner's wallet was allegedly stolen, and the police have reacted to the matter.

Disha posted the footage on X, tagging Bengaluru Police and HDFC Bank as she sought help following the incident. The CCTV footage showed the woman approaching the man’s bag and taking out his wallet with little apparent hesitation. She was seen reaching into the bag, pulling out the wallet, and leaving with it, seemingly without drawing attention to herself.

The woman’s face was clearly visible in the footage shared by Disha, who urged people to remain vigilant while visiting public places. She expressed frustration with the bank, saying its customer care service had not been helpful and that she had not received clear instructions on what to do next.

Disha tagged Bengaluru Police in her post, seeking their intervention in the matter. The police responded that her complaint had been registered. HDFC Bank also replied to the post, acknowledging Disha’s distress and her experience while trying to obtain assistance.

The footage prompted concern among social media users, with the incident serving as a reminder to keep personal belongings secure in public places. The apparent ease with which the wallet was taken also drew attention to the need for people to remain aware of their bags and valuables, even while sitting inside familiar establishments such as cafes.
