The Supreme Court on Monday directed the Central Bureau of Investigation not to take any coercive measures in a corruption case connected to an officer on special duty serving under Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
A judicial bench consisting of Justices MM Sundresh and PB Varale issued the directive while formally issuing notice on an appeal filed by the state of Punjab. The state government had challenged a previous ruling by the Punjab and Haryana High Court that mandated a CBI probe into the matter.
