New Delhi: The National Students' Union of India staged a symbolic protest march from Raisina Road towards Jantar Mantar in Delhi to voice opposition against the Election Commission and Chief Election Commissioner Ganesh Kumar. Demonstrators participated with bandages wrapped around their fingers to protest the alleged removal of thirteen crore voters from electoral rolls, condemning the administrative actions as a direct assault on democratic principles.
Protesters also called for the restoration of Jantar Mantar as an authorized venue for public demonstrations following its prior denotification, while criticizing the heavy security presence as a sign of government apprehension. In response to the march, the Delhi Police, backed by paramilitary units including the Central Reserve Police Force and the Rapid Action Force, established barricades along the route, issued formal warnings, and ultimately detained multiple NSUI members who attempted to push forward.
