Director Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming cinematic epic, Ramayana: Rise of a Legend, featuring a prominent cast that includes Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, and Sunny Deol, is scheduled to hold its world premiere at the David Geffen Theatre inside the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles on October 27, 2026. This exclusive, invite-only screening represents a unique moment for an Indian film production to launch globally at the prestigious Hollywood landmark.

The premiere is organized as a 3D screening within the 945-seat venue, drawing an audience composed of Hollywood figures, international filmmakers, and global media representatives. Taking place ahead of the Diwali season, invitees have been asked to arrive in traditional Indian garments for the red-carpet portion of the evening.

This initial chapter of a planned two-part cinematic adaptation stars Ranbir Kapoor in the role of Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, Yash as Ravana, and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman. Subsequent to the Los Angeles debut, Ramayana: Rise of a Legend is set to arrive in theaters worldwide on November 5, 2026, releasing in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. The second installment of the project is slated to hit screens during Diwali in 2027.

Backed by producer Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios alongside DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, the narrative draws from sage Valmiki's ancient text. The story follows Prince Rama, the righteous heir of Ayodhya, who weds Princess Sita following a feat of divine strength in Mithila. Palace intrigue subsequently forces Rama into a fourteen-year exile in the Dandaka Forest alongside Sita and his brother Laxman, where their ascetic life is disrupted by the abduction of Sita by Ravana, the king of Lanka, ultimately triggering a vast conflict between virtue and wickedness.

The movie is prepared for a broad global theatrical release, featuring IMAX presentations. Sony Pictures is managing overseas distribution outside of India, while Dharma Productions oversees theatrical distribution within the domestic Hindi-speaking market.
