New Delhi: A massive protest march organized by opposition leaders and youth cadres of the INDIA bloc moved through Bhagwan Das Road and entered Barakhamba Road in central Delhi, successfully crossing multiple police barricades along the route. The demonstration involved members from various political formations, including youth wings of the Congress and Left parties, who gathered for a Delhi Chalo protest. Protesters voiced strong grievances concerning alleged issues with the Special Intensive Revision and voting rights, while explicitly demanding the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner.
During the procession, some demonstrators climbed atop Delhi Police vehicles while waving national and party flags. The march drew a heavy security response, featuring large deployments of the Delhi Police, Rapid Action Force, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, and Uttar Pradesh Police. Authorities established multi-layered barricades and positioned detention vehicles near the Mandi House roundabout and the Bengali Market area to control the crowds and restrict pedestrian and vehicular movement.
Despite the strict security measures, the march continued to advance with plans for a designated delegation of ten leaders to submit a petition in person. The participants, which included a large contingent of lawyers carrying copies of the Constitution alongside opposition politicians and NSUI cadres, aimed to deliver their memorandum regarding the electoral issues while pressing forward toward the Supreme Court.
