A massive protest march featuring INDIA Alliance cadre workers, student groups, legal professionals, and concerned citizens moved through Barakhamba Road toward Connaught Place in New Delhi. Participants, including members from the Congress, Samajwadi Party, Left parties, AISA, and NSUI, converged at key intersections, with some demonstrators climbing atop buses and police vehicles while waving national and party flags.
Heavy security deployments, including multiple layers of Delhi Police, Rapid Action Force, and paramilitary personnel, were established along Bhagwan Das Road and leading up to the Supreme Court. Buses carrying prominent opposition leaders—such as Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Tejashwi Yadav, Sanjay Raut, Supriya Sule, Bhupinder Hooda, and D Raja—navigated past several barricades during the mobilization.
The demonstration, termed a Delhi Chalo protest, focused on demanding institutional accountability, questioning the functioning of the Election Commission, and raising concerns over alleged voter exclusions during special intensive revision exercises. Protesters also voiced demands regarding the appointment process of the Chief Election Commissioner and the safeguarding of voting rights nationwide.
While leaders prepared to submit formal petitions to the Supreme Court, the Bharatiya Janata Party criticized the opposition's stance, arguing that political rivals only question electoral processes when the BJP wins rather than acknowledging outcomes in states secured by the opposition. Despite the intense security measures and breach of initial barricades, the demonstration brought together a wide array of civil society members, university students, and political workers in the capital.
