Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis launched a sharp attack against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over the Opposition’s allegations of electoral irregularities, accusing him and his supporters of actively working to undermine the Indian Constitution. Speaking in Nagpur, Fadnavis claimed that the grand old party was attempting to dismantle constitutional frameworks despite publicly displaying copies of the sacred text.

Fadnavis alleged that Rahul Gandhi and his inexperienced followers were seeking to break the Constitution while criticizing constitutional institutions and spreading rumors to discredit bodies established under it. He further remarked that the Congress had lost its independent political standing across multiple states and needed to introspect regarding its electoral losses, adding that the party had adopted an anarchic mindset influenced by ultra-leftist perspectives.

The Maharashtra Chief Minister also expressed strong support for the Supreme Court's stance regarding protests in the national capital, stating that the judiciary's response to the INDIA bloc leaders' request for a meeting with Chief Justice of India Surya Kant was entirely appropriate.

The Chief Justice reportedly declined a meeting with Rahul Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge ahead of the Opposition's planned march to the Supreme Court to submit a memorandum concerning alleged voting discrepancies. The apex court underscored that democratic activities should not obstruct judicial functioning or restrict the movement of lawyers, court staff, and litigants, while also agreeing to hear related petitions over logistical difficulties caused by demonstrations.

The ongoing opposition demonstrations center around accusations of electoral theft, demands for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, and calls to halt the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. Rahul Gandhi led the INDIA bloc march to the Supreme Court under the banner of a democracy march, while previously criticizing the central government for heavy security deployments across Delhi ahead of the political action.
