Delhi Police served a notice to Cockroach Janata Party founder Abhijeet Deepke at the residence of Nationalist Congress Party spokesperson Anish Gawande, ahead of a planned march at Central Park in Connaught Place. Visuals showed police teams engaging in dialogue inside the premises as Deepke wrote on and signed the document while holding the national flag.
The police maintained a strong security presence both inside and outside the house to ensure law and order, citing the absence of permission for public gatherings in the commercial area. Authorities pointed to prior bonds requiring the preservation of peace, while CJP representatives maintained that the planned demonstration was a peaceful Tiranga rally to unfurl the flag rather than an unlawful protest.
Gawande questioned the imposition of restrictions, arguing that similar demonstrations took place peacefully across several cities without widespread closures, and stated that traders should not face disruptions. Police teams had arrived at the residence to serve the official notice regarding the proposed rally, directing Deepke not to carry out any protest or march.
Officials cited the imposition of Section 163 and the denotification of Jantar Mantar as a protest venue, raising concerns over potential law and order disruptions during the festive Navratri season. High drama unfolded as security personnel were deployed around the Jhandewalan and Rani Jhansi Road premises to enforce preventive measures and ensure no unauthorized march took place.
The CJP had issued a public call urging citizens and supporters to gather with the Tricolour at Central Park. Authorities noted objections from local market associations and the administrative closure of Central Park by the civic council as grounds for disallowing the gathering.
Multi-tier security arrangements, including barricades and heavy personnel deployment, were put in place across central Delhi to maintain public order. Fellow party figures Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka remain in judicial custody following earlier demonstrations as authorities continue to monitor the developing situation.
