Rapper Badshah has come out in support of veteran singer Daler Mehndi following a viral social media video showing a Bharatiya Janata Party lawmaker confronting the musician over allegations that he was drunk on stage. Describing Mehndi as a true legend, Badshah stated that while audiences and organizers have the right to express disappointment, publicly humiliating an artist who has made massive contributions to the music industry is deeply disheartening.
The controversy began after footage emerged from a stage performance in Narendranagar, Uttarakhand. During the event, MLA Subodh Uniyal walked onto the stage to voice his anger over the quality of the show, publicly accusing Mehndi of failing to sing properly and performing under the influence of alcohol. The incident quickly circulated online, drawing varied reactions ranging from severe public backlash to mockery from social media users.
Mika Singh strongly defended his brother against the allegations, making a bold declaration that he would quit singing entirely if anyone could prove that his sibling consumes alcohol. In a video statement, Mika explained that the veteran singer had recently undergone a major surgery and was physically unwell at the time of the concert.
Highlighting Mehndi's three-decade career as a musical superstar, Mika emphasized that his brother has never had any association with alcohol and chose to honor his professional commitments despite his fragile health condition. While acknowledging that the politician had every right to critique the performance if he was dissatisfied, Mika maintained that the accusations of intoxication were completely unfounded.
