New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party veteran Lal Krishna Advani, who was hospitalized late Friday evening due to a chest infection, was released from Delhi's Apollo Hospital on Monday following a recovery in his health.

According to an official medical statement released by the facility, the 98-year-old politician demonstrated clinical improvement while under the supervision of Dr. Vinit Suri, a senior consultant in neurology. Advani had previously been admitted to the same hospital in May of this year to address age-related health issues.

Throughout his extensive political career, Advani served as the national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party across three separate terms spanning 1986 to 1990, 1993 to 1998, and 2004 to 2005. He also held significant national office within the National Democratic Alliance administration led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee, serving as the Union home minister from 1998 to 2004 and as deputy prime minister from 2002 to 2004.

Advani's medical history includes several recent hospital visits. In December 2024, he was admitted to the intensive care unit at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital for evaluations and medical care under Dr. Suri, at which time his condition was reported as stable. Additionally, in July 2024, he spent a night at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences before transferring to Apollo Hospital, from where he was subsequently released.
