Jio Platforms’ Rs 8,110-crore anchor book has drawn institutional demand of roughly Rs 2.5 lakh crore, attracting global asset managers, sovereign wealth funds, domestic mutual funds, and insurers as the Reliance Industries subsidiary prepares for its initial public offering. Individuals familiar with the transaction indicated that the demand surpassed 30 times the available amount ahead of the public subscription period opening on October 21.
Global investment institutions including BlackRock, Capital Group, Fidelity Investments, T. Rowe Price, Schroders, JPMorgan Asset Management, Franklin Templeton, Invesco, and Janus Henderson placed offers for the anchor book. Participation also came from prominent sovereign wealth funds such as Singapore’s GIC, the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, the Qatar Investment Authority, and Norway’s Norges Bank Investment Management.
Domestic financial institutions represented in the anchor allocation included mutual fund majors like SBI Mutual Fund, ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund, HDFC Mutual Fund, Aditya Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund, Nippon India Mutual Fund, and Kotak Mahindra Asset Management Company. Pension and insurance investors such as the Life Insurance Corporation of India, HDFC Life Insurance, SBI Life Insurance, SBI Pension Funds, HDFC Pension, and ICICI Prudential also submitted offers.
The public offering aims to raise Rs 30,213 crore, running from October 21 to October 23, with a price band set between Rs 1,065 and Rs 1,119 per share. The transaction consists entirely of a fresh issue of up to 27 crore shares with no offer for sale component, potentially valuing the company at around $108 billion at the upper end of the price band.
Proceeds from the share sale are designated to support debt repayment at the telecom subsidiary Reliance Jio Infocomm, alongside general corporate requirements. Controlled by billionaire Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries, Jio Platforms provides mobile connectivity, broadband, digital entertainment, gaming, cloud storage, smart home features, artificial intelligence services, cloud computing, the Internet of Things, and cybersecurity.
Data from a Religare Broking note indicates that Jio Platforms served over 53.3 crore customers as of June 2026, which included more than 28.5 crore 5G users, while reaching over 99 percent of the nation's population. The company has also filed 7,220 patent applications spanning 4G, 5G, 6G, cloud-native infrastructure, and automated systems.
Religare Broking assigned a positive rating to the offering based on growth potential, subscriber scale, profitability, and market opportunities in digital services. Financial metrics showed operating revenue climbing from Rs 1,09,558 crore in fiscal 2024 to Rs 1,46,885 crore in fiscal 2026, while profit after tax grew from Rs 21,423 crore to Rs 30,049 crore.
Brokerage analysis noted potential risks involving heavy revenue reliance on Reliance Jio Infocomm, regulatory conditions around telecom licences, emerging satellite broadband competition, and shifts in net neutrality policies. Market observers emphasize that robust anchor participation serves as an indicator of institutional appetite but does not determine subsequent public category demand or post-listing stock behavior.
