Row Over Hindi Imposition In Tamil Nadu As Congress Hits Out And BJP Defends Modi
A political war of words has broken out between the Congress and the BJP over allegations of Hindi imposition in Tamil Nadu. The DMK and Congress highlighted that while Rahul Gandhi addressed the state exclusively in English, Prime Minister Narendra Modi briefly spoke in English before switching to Hindi. The opposition accused the central government of withholding 3,300 crore rupees from Tamil Nadu through the new education policy, causing a drop in Tamil medium MBBS seats via NEET, leaving universities without vice chancellors, and planning delimitation to reduce Tamil Nadu's representation. The BJP rejected the allegations, defending the Modi government's record and asserting that Tamil language and culture have received unprecedented national and international recognition.
