Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin have directed their administrations to broaden bilateral cooperation as both countries strive to reach $100 billion in trade by the year 2030, according to Indian Ambassador Vinay Kumar.
In an interview published by the Russian news agency TASS, Ambassador Kumar explained that the two leaders reviewed the comprehensive scope of their bilateral relationship on the sidelines of the BRICS summit held in New Delhi.
The envoy highlighted that a tangible outcome of this partnership was the leaders' joint participation in the BRICS business summit and a visit to the Innoprom-India exhibition, marking the first time a Russian industrial exhibition took place in New Delhi.
Following these discussions, both leaders instructed relevant ministries and government agencies to accelerate collaboration, particularly within trade and economic sectors. Kumar reiterated that India and Russia are actively pursuing targets of $100 billion in bilateral trade and $50 billion in mutual investments by the end of the decade.
Addressing labor cooperation, the ambassador stated that India intends to supply Russia with skilled personnel tailored to meet its market demands. Indian nationals currently comprise roughly a quarter to thirty percent of Russia's foreign worker quota.
Kumar emphasized India's demographic strengths, noting that the country of nearly 1.5 billion people is positioned to become a global hub for trained professionals. With a median workforce age of 29 and working-age individuals comprising about 69 percent of the population, India prepares specialists for both local and international employment.
To support Russian industrial requirements, New Delhi has proposed that Moscow either establish dedicated educational institutions within India or partner with existing domestic academies to train prospective workers.
