A parliamentary committee has selected six distinct subjects for comprehensive examination, which include the potential enhancement of the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme allocation, the timely execution of development projects, and technological hurdles in fund distribution.

Another major subject chosen for study is the feasibility of merging MPLADS with the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission scheme under the VB-G RAM G Act, 2025. According to a Lok Sabha bulletin released on Friday, October 23, 2026, the MPLADS committee finalized these topics for the 2026-27 term during its meeting on October 5.

The panel intends to scrutinize the existing guidelines that govern the release of MPLADS money while evaluating whether a higher allocation is necessary. Led by Congress Lok Sabha member K. Suresh, the committee will likewise concentrate on the prompt monitoring and completion of projects carried out via the scheme.

Additional areas of review include the performance of facilitation centers and technical obstacles influencing fund disbursements through the E-SAKSHI portal. Altogether, the selected subjects address the funding, implementation, monitoring, and digital challenges linked to the program.

Lawmakers from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have consistently pushed for higher financial allocations. The yearly budget of five crore rupees per parliamentarian has stayed the same since the 2011-12 fiscal year, with current proposals advocating for an increase to between eighteen and twenty crore rupees annually per member. Nonetheless, the government has not yet reached a final decision regarding the request.
