Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi undertook a day-long official tour of Tamil Nadu, arriving in Chennai to participate in a series of public events and religious engagements. As part of his itinerary, the Prime Minister visited the historic Jalakandeswarar Temple, where he offered prayers and performed traditional puja rituals.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister formally flagged off a new metro stretch in the presence of Chief Minister Vijay. The infrastructure addition is expected to bolster urban transit capabilities in the region.

Following the transit launch, Modi conducted a high-profile roadshow through the streets of Chennai. Bharatiya Janata Party supporters and local cultural artists lined the route to welcome his convoy, chanting slogans and performing traditional folk dances to mark the occasion.

The visit underscores ongoing political and administrative engagements in the state, drawing significant public attention and heavy security deployments along the designated routes.
