Ernakulam — A 55-year-old man lost his life early on October 25, 2026, when a luxury car allegedly driven by a 17-year-old boy crashed into his scooter on the Container Road at Cheranalloor. The victim was identified as Jayabalakrishnan, a resident of Chittur in Cheranalloor who operated a local eatery.
Local authorities at the Cheranalloor police station took the minor driver into custody following the incident. Registration records indicate the automobile belongs to Reno Francis Xavier, the First Additional District Judge of the Irinjalakuda Magistrate Court. The fatal collision follows a recent accident near Nedumbassery, where three young people died after a speeding luxury vehicle operated by a 19-year-old struck a two-wheeler.
The crash took place at approximately 2:20 a.m. near a vehicle showroom located at Maraparambu along the Container Road. According to initial details, the teenager, a resident of Aluva, was driving alone from Vallarpadam toward Kalamassery when his car struck the scooter, which was traveling in the same direction.
Jayabalakrishnan suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene, family members noted to the press. Law enforcement officials have filed a formal case against the youthful driver on preliminary allegations of rash driving and performing a negligent act not amounting to culpable homicide.
