Varanasi: Speaking during the Indian Air Force's 94th anniversary celebrations, defence expert Group Captain MJ Augustine Vinod emphasized the significance of the large-scale aerial displays conducted over the Ganga. Highlighting the outreach of these demonstrations, he noted that they effectively showcase India's air power and pointed out that very few nations are capable of fielding massive aerobatic formations like the nine-aircraft Suryakiran team.
Recalling past military actions, including Operation Sindoor, the retired officer asserted that the world needs to learn from India regarding how to initiate and conclude a conflict when a clear-cut objective has already been established. He explained that deploying a diverse fleet of aircraft, ranging from strategic and tactical transport planes like the C-17 to advanced fighter jets, demonstrates the nation's vertical envelopment capabilities to both domestic observers and regional adversaries.
The aerial exhibition formed part of a broader itinerary in Varanasi, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a new garment manufacturing facility alongside Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Governor Anandiben Patel. The production site focuses on modern manufacturing techniques to generate employment opportunities for women workers, and the Prime Minister personally interacted with female employees during his tour of the plant.
Following the industrial inauguration, the focus shifted to Namo Ghat for the Indian Air Force's aerial demonstration over the river Ganga. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and various cabinet ministers joined the celebrations as modern fighter aircraft, including Rafales, Jaguars, and MiG jets, alongside heavy-lift helicopters like Chinooks and Mi-17s, executed intricate flypasts and aerial maneuvers before thousands of spectators gathered along the riverbanks.
