New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has offered significant relief to individuals whose names were removed from electoral rolls during the Special Intensive Revision exercise, ruling that affected voters can seek re-inclusion by submitting Form 6.
Addressing uncertainties regarding potential legal repercussions, the court clarified that voters who faced deletion because of an address change are permitted to apply for enrolment as new voters.
During the proceedings, the Election Commission of India assured the court that citizens filing Form 6 under these specific circumstances will not face prosecution. This assurance resolves prior confusion among the public concerning whether to use Form 6 or Form 8 for address modifications.
The latest judicial directive provides clear guidance to numerous voters who had previously found themselves stuck navigating complex appeal procedures following the removal of their names from the voter registry.
