The Cockroach Janata Party legal team is moving Delhi's Patiala House Court to seek bail for Saurabh Das and Ashutosh Ranka after both individuals were sent to Tihar Jail. Following the custody orders, Das was lodged in Jail number two, while Ranka was placed in Jail number four. In contrast, another individual, Ajinkya Shinde, secured release after signing a peace bond.
The custody orders stem from an inquiry initiated by a Special Executive Magistrate over alleged breaches of a peace bond, with authorities relying on the accused individuals' general conduct and social media posts. The political party's counsel is preparing to challenge the judicial custody decision in court.
The defense contends that the official proceedings failed to follow the proper legal framework. Specifically, the legal team argues that the prescribed procedure under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita was violated while the inquiry was actively ongoing.
