Speaking at the India Today Mumbai Conclave during an interview with Rajdeep Sardesai, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray raised serious concerns regarding governance, electoral processes, and institutional integrity. Thackeray openly criticized the Election Commission of India in connection with the Special Intensive Revision process, alleging that valid voters had been systematically left off draft electoral rolls, and demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Addressing historical complaints originating from the Mumbai Northwest constituency, Thackeray pushed back against claims that political opposition groups only voice concerns regarding electronic voting machines and voter lists after suffering electoral defeats. He characterized the preceding decade as a lost period for economic growth, national employment generation, and infrastructure standards, while also suggesting that the upcoming general election might take place well before 2029.
Furthermore, Thackeray outlined the party's strategy to introduce younger candidates in upcoming contests. He also touched upon local issues in Maharashtra, including civic amenities, deteriorating road conditions, and inadequate drought relief efforts, while reaffirming his continued support for Rahul Gandhi and the wider INDIA opposition alliance.
