Newdelhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday stepped up his attack on Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, saying INDIA bloc leaders will march to the Supreme Court on Monday and file a petition against the poll panel chief and alleged vote theft. He said the protest was part of a wider fight to protect the Constitution and the election system.

Addressing a press conference at the Congress headquarters, Gandhi asked Kumar to resign and turn approver, saying the opposition's fight was against bigger forces behind him. He also urged opposition leaders, party workers and young people to join the march for democracy and questioned the restrictions imposed across the national capital.

Gandhi said Kumar should resign because a mistake had been made, adding that he believed the CEC was not the mastermind behind the actions. He maintained that the resistance would continue even if it took days or years, and claimed that government officers were in touch with the opposition to provide information.

According to Gandhi, INDIA bloc leaders will gather at a designated junction in central Delhi on Monday afternoon for the march to the Supreme Court, where the petition is scheduled to be filed. He urged citizens to show solidarity with the Constitution and the national flag, declaring that the youth of the country will not stop until the election system is thoroughly revamped.

The opposition has ramped up pressure following reports that other election commissioners had repeatedly raised objections on record over decisions related to electoral rolls. The Election Commission has previously stated that differing views are normal in institutional deliberations and that all its orders carry full legal sanction.

Gandhi also criticized the heavy security deployment and movement restrictions across the capital city, questioning why people were being prevented from traveling into Delhi. He framed the upcoming demonstration as an essential campaign to protect the soul of the country and the future of its democratic framework.
