Two people lost their lives and 21 others sustained injuries after a canter bus met with an accident in the Moghalla area of Kankote, located in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district. Following the crash, emergency responders rushed the wounded individuals to the Government Medical College for medical treatment. Hospital reports indicated that three of the injured passengers are currently in critical condition. Authorities have not yet released specific details regarding the exact circumstances that led to the vehicle crash.
This incident follows other recent transport accidents in the region. On October 1 in Jammu and Kashmir's Ramban district, approximately 30 passengers were injured when a West Bengal-registered sleeper bus overturned along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. Seven of those injured were subsequently referred to the Government Medical College in Jammu, though Union Minister Jitendra Singh noted that none of the victims had suffered serious injuries at the time.
In a separate transit accident inside the Navyug Tunnel along the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, an overspeeding passenger bus collided with the tunnel wall. Closed-circuit television footage captured the initial impact before a second bus crashed into the stationary vehicle, causing it to flip over. That collision resulted in at least 13 injuries and prompted fears of further casualties.
