New Delhi: Following a week-long incarceration, Cockroach Janta Party leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka walked free after a Special Executive Magistrate court in Delhi turned down a police application seeking extended preventive custody.

The two political figures had been initially placed in judicial detention in the aftermath of a demonstration held on October 13 at Jantar Mantar. Law enforcement authorities had pursued further preventive measures against them following the rally.

Ultimately, the court ruled in favor of their release after both individuals furnished formal undertakings. In these signed agreements, the leaders pledged to refrain from organizing future demonstrations at Jantar Mantar for as long as the location remains officially denotified, and committed to maintaining public order.
