New Delhi: A controversy has erupted after Delhi's Bikaner House reportedly ordered the removal of over 70 photographs from an exhibition by artist Rehan Vadra, who is the son of Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Rehan stated that the venue gave him barely 30 minutes to take down 74 artworks, citing political context and timing. He added that even an image featuring the Indian flag was taken down.
Terming the action an act of political bias that curtails freedom of expression, Rehan noted that only around 40 artworks remain displayed in largely bare rooms. Priyanka Gandhi publicly supported her son, remarking that those in power who fear expression have already lost their power. The Congress party has also criticised the directive, while an official response from the management of Bikaner House is still awaited.
