President Donald Trump has confirmed that Nidal Malik Hasan, the perpetrator of the 2009 Fort Hood mass shooting, will face execution by firing squad. The announcement comes after the Pentagon revealed plans for the execution to be conducted publicly and broadcasted via livestream.

Hasan, who worked as an Army psychiatrist, carried out the tragic attack at the Texas military base in November 2009. The shooting left 13 people dead and injured more than 30 others.

While defense officials have outlined plans for a public and livestreamed event, the White House has not yet formally confirmed the specific logistical details regarding the broadcast or public access.
