New Delhi: Quick-commerce platform Instamart stepped in to deliver a cheerful conclusion to a Madurai-based creator's viral delivery ordeal, sending him a collection of free gifts that included electronics, home appliances, and the traditional sweets he originally requested.
The gesture followed a bizarre incident where Veeramani shared his address online in hopes of receiving Diwali treats from followers, only to become the target of numerous unwanted cash-on-delivery orders. Instead of sweets, pranksters used his public details to dispatch expensive electronics and appliances, culminating in an absurd prank order for a massive tanker supposedly valued at 70 crore rupees.
His perplexed reactions to the constant stream of unrequested deliveries quickly gained widespread attention on social media, highlighting the inherent risks of sharing personal details publicly. The situation transformed the creator's festive aspiration into a stressful administrative headache.
Sensing an opportunity to rewrite the narrative, Instamart intervened as part of its Quick India Movement Sale campaign. The company sent Veeramani a variety of items without any payment requirements, including a mobile phone, a personal computer, a projector, an induction cooker, and the festive sweets he desired.
The resulting social media campaign rapidly gained traction, pulling in more than 25 million views on Instagram within 22 hours of its launch and turning a viral prank nightmare into a heartwarming brand collaboration.
