A heated discussion has emerged contrasting the cases of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and Bimal Akoijam following remarks from political figures. Bharatiya Janata Party leader Bansuri Swaraj highlighted what she described as a fundamental distinction between the legal standing of the two individuals.
Swaraj argued that Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh faced a formal judicial trial and was ultimately acquitted by a court. In contrast, she pointed out that Bimal Akoijam was found guilty during a Jawaharlal Nehru University departmental inquiry, which was subsequently followed by the filing of a first information report.
During her statements, Swaraj also directed criticism toward opposition leadership, questioning the silence of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi regarding the circumstances surrounding Akoijam's case.
