Uttarakhand: A motorist in Rudrapur attempted to bypass a police checkpoint, unintentionally causing his wife to tumble onto the asphalt when he suddenly changed direction to avoid officers. Footage of the event at Trishul Chowk has since spread widely across social media platforms.

The occurrence took place amidst a routine inspection operation focused on identifying vehicles lacking proper registration plates and motorists failing to wear safety helmets. When law enforcement officials directed the motorcycle to pull over, the driver reportedly sped up and executed a sharp turn to circumvent the officers. This abrupt movement caused the pillion rider to lose her footing and drop to the pavement.

Significantly, the driver failed to pause and check on his partner following her fall. Rather than halting, he kept driving and departed the scene, leaving police officers to step in and assist the stranded woman. A local witness filmed the occurrence, and the resulting video gained traction online, underscoring the hazards associated with erratic driving and efforts to elude traffic enforcement.

According to authorities, the woman underwent questioning following the event and informed officers that she remained uninjured. Law enforcement personnel subsequently provided her with counsel before allowing her to return home.

The episode serves as another reminder of the risks tied to reckless driving, especially when abrupt evasive actions endanger both passengers and other individuals sharing the road.
