Chennai, Oct 15, 2026 15:20 IST — The ruling TVK strongly condemned the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, denouncing the exercise as inherently anti-democratic and detrimental to the foundational principles of equality championed by B R Ambedkar.
Speaking at an INDIA bloc protest in Chennai, TVK leader and School Education Minister A Rajmohan stated that his party has opposed the revision process from the beginning and will persist in utilizing both legal avenues and public platforms to safeguard voting rights. Demonstrators at the gathering called for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over accusations of voter roll manipulation during the revision.
Rajmohan highlighted that the TVK has formally challenged the implementation of the revision, including its rollout in states like Bihar, before the Supreme Court. He alleged that the process has resulted in the systematic removal of millions of eligible citizens from voter lists, disproportionately impacting individuals under thirty, women, economically disadvantaged populations, and marginalized groups.
According to the minister, these targeted omissions undermine electoral integrity and transparency. Invoking constitutional values, Rajmohan emphasized that true democracy guarantees equal voting rights and dignity for all citizens, arguing that the revision directly violates those ideals.
He called upon political leaders and democratic forces to unite against institutional practices that erode public rights. Reaffirming the party's stance, Rajmohan stated that the TVK will maintain its campaign against the voter roll revision through legal challenges, official documentation, and public mobilization.
