Union Minister of Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal has stated that the central government remains fully committed to implementing the upcoming delimitation process, emphasizing that the exercise is a required constitutional obligation. Speaking in an interview, Meghwal addressed criticisms and apprehensions raised by opposition politicians regarding potential shifts in political numbers and parliamentary seat reallocation following the introduction of the relevant legislation in the Lok Sabha.

Detailing the government's proposed framework, the law minister explained that current parliamentary seats are slated to increase by fifty percent. Furthermore, he noted that the newly created seats will be designated specifically for women in accordance with the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam legislation, which would raise the total number of Lok Sabha seats to 815 distributed across the various states.

The clarification comes in response to objections voiced by figures such as Congress leader Jairam Ramesh and regional southern parties like the DMK, who have expressed concerns over potential regional imbalances and unequal representation in parliament once the boundary redrawing and seat adjustments take effect.
