Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday stated that Vijaya Dashami symbolizes fresh beginnings and the victory of righteousness over malevolence, drawing a connection to the state administration's ongoing initiatives for young entrepreneurs.

In a public social media statement, the chief minister noted that the festival marks the triumph of Goddess Durga over Mahishasura, serving as an appropriate occasion for individuals to embark on new ventures under divine blessings. Sarma pointed to the Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan initiative, a government program designed to offer financial backing between Rs 2 lakh and Rs 5 lakh to educated youth looking to establish independent businesses.

Under the terms of this state scheme, half of the financial support is distributed as an outright grant while the remainder functions as an interest-free loan. Sarma emphasized that young women throughout Assam are increasingly stepping forward to launch enterprises, shifting from job seekers to active job creators.

He highlighted that this dynamic reflects the true essence of a self-reliant Assam, where individuals possessing viable business ideas can bypass traditional barriers of capital and permission. Urging citizens to back aspiring female founders during the festive season, the chief minister extended his wishes for Vijaya Dashami, expressing hope that Goddess Durga would grant success to the daughters of the state in all their future pursuits.
