New Delhi: A resident of Greater Noida’s Sector Beta 1 learned an unexpected lesson in civic responsibility after he was caught dumping garbage beside a wall on CCTV. A public announcement calling him out and warning him of a fine prompted the man to pick up the waste and take it back home, in an incident that has now gone viral on social media.

The incident took place at around 10:15 pm on October 9, according to the general secretary of the Sector Beta 1 Residents’ Welfare Association. The man had brought garbage from his home and was about to dump it beside a wall when he was captured on the sector’s surveillance cameras while carrying a child with him.

The individual monitoring the footage then utilized the public announcement system to instruct him to remove the garbage immediately and questioned why he had discarded it there. At first, the man appeared confused about the origin of the voice.

When the warning was repeated, he was informed that he would face a financial penalty the following morning if he failed to clear the waste. This intervention motivated him to pick up the garbage and carry it back to his residence.

The local residents' association had been working continuously to maintain cleanliness within the sector, though certain individuals continued throwing garbage in the open or along walls to evade detection. Association representatives noted that violators are identified so that fines can be imposed, with security cameras installed at various locations specifically to monitor illegal dumping.

The surveillance network enables administrators to intervene immediately when rule-breakers are caught in the act. The recorded video has since circulated widely online, drawing widespread praise from viewers who emphasize the importance of holding residents accountable for the cleanliness of public spaces.
