Lucknow,Oct 28, 2026 11:18 ISTThe Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission has dismissed as baseless social media claims about reservation in the recruitment of assistant teachers for more than 17,000 posts in aided secondary schools, news agency Press Trust of India reported.Commission chairman Prashant Kumar said the reservation policy for the advertised posts had been implemented transparently and in accordance with government rules and prescribed procedures, according to a Uttar Pradesh government statement.“The misinformation being spread about reservation by certain undesirable elements and organisations on social media and other platforms is baseless and misleading,” Kumar said.COMMISSION URGES CANDIDATES TO IGNORE RUMOURSHe appealed to teaching job aspirants and the public not to believe or share misleading information or rumours circulated on social media or through unauthorised sources. Candidates should rely only on the Commission's official website for authorised information about the recruitment process, the statement said.HOW RESERVATION IS CALCULATEDKumar said the Madhyamik Shiksha Nideshalaya had compiled details of vacancies across aided schools in the state, listing them by school, subject and category, including reservation categories, before submitting the recruitment request to the Commission.
Aided secondary schools in Uttar Pradesh are treated as individual units, with the management of each school acting as the appointing authority, according to the statement cited by PTI. The allocation of posts by category is therefore calculated separately for each school, based on its sanctioned posts and the applicable reservation rules. The statement said the reservation did not apply to the combined number of vacancies across the state or at the Directorate level.PREVIOUS RECRUITMENTS FOLLOWED THE SAME RULESThe Commission said it had earlier conducted recruitment under the same rules and legal framework, including through Advertisement Nos.
01/2022 and 02/2022.Kumar also said the state government had clarified the position through its official social media handle, “E-Gyan Ganga-UP”. The Commission reiterated that candidates should use its official website for verified recruitment information and avoid circulating unverified claims.- Ends
